Marisol Gomez-Decena, Immediate Past President
Mrs. Gomez-Decena worked her way through school, earning her bachelor’s degree in business administration and criminology from the University of Miami in 1999, her MBA from the University of Miami in 2002 and her juris doctorate from St. Thomas University in 2005. Her MBA in corporate finance and legal implications  with insight into corporate accounting and business practices that is distinctive in the legal community. Employed in the legal arena since 1997, Mrs. Gomez-Decena has gained a unique understanding of all aspects of litigation matters. She has served as an intern with the State Attorney’s Office in Miami Dade County, Broward County Attorney’s Office and the City of Coral Gables Attorney’s Office. Ms. Gomez-Decena was also selected to complete a judicial internship in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida with the Honorable Senior Judge James Lawrence King.

 

She has been an associate at Gamba & Lombana, PA for seven years and practices catastrophic medical malpractice cases and personal injury matters on behalf of the Plaintiff. Actively involved in professional and civic organizations, Mrs. Gomez-Decena currently serves as the President of Elect of the Miami-Dade Chapter of the Florida Association for Women Lawyers, Executive Board Member of ASPIRA of Florida (a not for profit organization that provides mentoring and afterschool programs for minority underprivileged middle school and high school students) and serves as a Board of Governor for the 11th Judicial Circuit of the Young Lawyers Division of the Florida Bar.  She also served as a former President of the Puerto Rican Bar Association of Florida, is a member of the Dade County Bar Association, Cuban American Bar Association and Florida Justice Association.
